Each year in the spring, Reid Sound promotes the Reid Sound Scholarship for Theatrical Technicians. This award, sponsored by Reid Sound, Inc. is a $1,500 award is given to one New Jersey, New York, or Pennsylvania high school senior who plans to pursue a technical theater major at a two- or four-year college or university. This scholarship was created to recognize the efforts and contributions of students who work behind-the-scenes, often working as hard as the performers on-stage but receiving little public acknowledgement.
Applicants are evaluated based on their skill and dedication to the art of technical theater, as demonstrated through their experiences, recommendations and responses to the questions on the scholarship application. For the purposes of the scholarship, valid experiences include participation with sound, lighting, costume or set design, stage management or running crew.

Applicants are evaluated by a selection committee appointed by Reid Sound, Inc. Applicants are notified of their status in the scholarship program no later than June 15.
