Jen already posted a link to this, and I know I only have about four readers, but whatever….
Michelle is awesome and has decided to start her own business. You can find it here. She is selling custom designed pillows and artwork and all sorts of cool retro-modern stuff for you hip metrosexuals or whatever out there. It’s good stuff, AND the site looks beautiful. Go support her so that she can quit her day job and then she and I can sit around all day and watch Maury together.
On Monday, the theater will basically be done except for some minor cosmetic items. That’s not what this post is about, though…
I’ve been meaning to write about this for a while, but kept forgetting. What I want to talk about is the Catholic Church’s decision to do away with limbo. Limbo is apparently the place where unbaptized babies go. Or, where they used to go. Now, this concept was apparently never official church doctrine as it had no scriptural basis, but it was still held as a belief and promoted as “tradition” by the church. Now they’re saying that it’s not true. Why is this not a problem for Catholics? Basically, the church is saying that they lied. They’re saying that they made it up. They’re saying that they invented something in order to keep better control over their followers. This isn’t about faith anymore. It’s about organized religion using beliefs to ensure that their followers do what they want.
I’m not really a religious person, but it has nothing to do with faith. I believe that there’s probably things going on in this world that I don’t understand. I often find myself looking to something beyond myself and thinking that things are happening for a reason. What I have a problem with is organized religion, and I think I’m not alone in this. Things like this just further show us how incredily fallible organized religion is. Religion, by their definition of it, should not be able to change. It’s God’s law, right? So there shouldn’t be any question about it. You can argue that there are different interpretations of God’s will, but then what is the point of organized religion, anyway? Why can’t I have my own interpretation of God’s will that is seperate from what the Church says? Organized religion is about control, and that may have been fine in the Dark Ages when that sort of thing was needed, but now it just seems outdated. And yet, look at how strongly people cling to it, anyway. Fascinating…
I’ve been meaning to put up pictures, but, well…I’m just plain lazy. The theater is officially in previews. It’s basically done, but there are no seats. Oh, and the screen needs to get replaced.
Long story, but basically it comes down to me not necessarily getting the right thing. Hopefully it’ll be resolved soon.
On an unrelated note, I would like companies to stop putting “i” before all of their products. I don’t care whether it’s iPod related or not. The only company that maybe has a right to put “i” before their products is Apple. The rest of you…knock it off.
I’ll try to get a picture up tomorrow, but the theater is nearing completion. There are walls. There is carpet. There is paint. There are lights and electricity. I’d say that by Friday, at the latest, we should be watching movies in there. Good thing, too, because my Netflix subscription has been languishing as the same movie sits here in my house just waiting to be watched…
My computer died on Christmas Day, and I had to replace it. That’s not the point of this post. The computer came with Norton Internet Security on it, and I thought nothing of it as I still had a license for Norton Anti-Virus 2006. However, the internet security portion of the program has an anti-spam filter on it that ties into Outlook, and I let that run since I got so much spam before. What’s interesting about this is that I used to think that I got SO much e-mail every day, and what I’m discovering now is that, in fact, I really don’t get much e-mail at all. What I get is an incredible amount of spam…
