Have you seen these new Volvo commercials? In it, the helpful Volvo salesman tells the man taking a test drive to accelerate as he goes through a coming turn and that if he does, “the car will pull [him] through the turn.” Well, I want to be the first to congratulate Volvo on making a car that obeys the laws of physics.

I like to stay up late. It doesn’t have anything to do with not being able to sleep or being able to get lots of work done late at night or anything like that. I think it has more to do with the quiet and the stillness. I like to be able to move around when everyone else is asleep, to do what I want without anyone paying attention to what I’m doing. It’s a somewhat private time, and a lot of people never really see it or experience it. There’s a song that just popped into my head from Guys and Dolls that talks about this very subject. Listen to it if you get the chance. It’s very true…

Today is Bryan’s birthday. Let me tell you a little bit about Bryan. I don’t think I’ve know Bryan all that long, but I feel like I’ve known him much longer. He’s very easy to talk to, and he’ll tell you things you may not want to hear. He won’t let you get away with just saying something and not having a reason for it. If you contradict yourself, he’ll call you on it. This is a good thing. He forces you to challenge yourself and be better. I’ve done several projects with Bryan and they’re always some of the best things I’ve ever worked on. Not only have I enjoyed the experience, but I feel like I’ve gained new skills from it, and in general the end result has always been quite good. Bryan and I are working on a new project, now. A very serious project that has big consequences for both of us. I’m confident that he and I can do it because I know how well we work together. It’s easy and loose but it works. Anyway, the guy means quite a bit to me, and today’s his birthday, so I wanted to publicly wish him a happy birthday.

Today was a good day. It’s not that anything really exciting happened today, but I spent the day mostly at home, making Sauce, hanging out with friends, playing games, spending time with Cindi…it was just nice.
