Wind whistles through the blog. A tumbleweed blows by…
Is it just me? It seems that every time I try to send an e-mail to someone who has a Hotmail account, it is delayed, and very often comes back undeliverable. Is it something screwy with Comcast, or does Hotmail just truly suck?
Those of you who are geeks, like me, may be interested to sign this online petition to George Lucas regarding his decision to NEVER release the original theatrical cuts of the Star Wars trilogy to DVD. Normally I would ignore this sort of thing, thinking that it doesn’t do any good. But according to an article I read, the release of Episode I on DVD was due largely to a petition that Star Wars fans signed, so if it’ll help, I’ll join in on this one. I don’t want my children to grow up thinking that Greedo shot first.
I was listening to the radio, and a commercial came on for It’s Just Lunch, a service that sets up lunch dates for single “busy professionals.” I thought that was a pretty cool idea, so I thought I’d share it with all of you.
I’ve been keeping some really odd hours since Monday. Well, that’s what happens when you’re about to enter tech for a huge production. Next week should be more of the same. I’m taking tomorrow (mostly) off, though. I’ve got some paperwork to do, but other than that, I’m hoping to relax. I’m going into NYC to see John and John of They Might Be Giants with Ali, so that should be a nice change of pace from the constant hours spent at school. If you don’t hear from me for the next week, it’s because I’m working. I’ll be back soon, though!
Do you want to know what’s amazing? I was getting a TON of junk e-mails every day. So many that I had considered changing my e-mail account. I didn’t really want to do that, though. So I went on a frenzy of actually clicking all those little links that said, “click here to be removed”. I used to ignore them because I figured they wouldn’t really do anything but confirm for the people sending the junk mail that it was an active account. Truth of the matter is, I’ve seen a really significant drop in the amount of junk mail I’ve gotten. So, it takes a few extra seconds, but it’s worthwhile to follow the removal instructions if you don’t want to go through all of the trouble of changing your e-mail address.
Well, it’s 7 am, and I’m about ready to leave school. I got here at 8 am yesterday. I left for about an hour and a half around dinner time. I’ll be back here today at 3 pm.
But y’know what? I still like my job.
I hate being one of those people whose “normal” temperature is around 96 degrees. It means that when you have a temperature of 98.5, no one believes that you are sick, even though you feel like crap and you know that your temperature is about 2 degrees above “normal”. Blah…
Interesting update on the dental front. Ali finally got in touch with the insurance company, gave them the procedural codes from the dentist (a whole long debacle), and they gave her the MAXIMUM co-pays that the dentist is allowed to charge for each item. It turns out that all of the work should only cost me $1,128 AT MOST. The dentist told me $1,700. The dentist and I are going to have a little chat tomorrow…
