Doesn’t he know when to quit?

Star Wars: The Extra-Special Editions

Recently, Lucas has made it known in the media that in addition to drastically improving (?) the visual effects in the movies, he plans to add scenes to the first three films that will make them jibe with the prequels and better reflect the overall story arc.

Along those same lines, Lucas told MTV that during the production of Episode III, actress Natalie Portman will film scenes that will be inserted into Return of the Jedi.

You probably won’t hear much from me this week. In addition to working the reunion weekend for Princeton University, I have several other gigs this week, meaning that this week promises to be far more busy than any other week for me in recent history. I probably will sleep minimal amounts, and work my a** off. The payoff, however, should be nice.

So, I shall return. In the meantime, try to think happy thoughts.

Y’know what? I love video games. There, I’ve said it. And I’m not ashamed. No, I freely admit it. I love video games. So there.

My Priest, the Child Molester: Why was the congregation so quick to forgive him?

I don’t mean to offend any Catholics, but….Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ!

In Lowell, Mass., those loyal to the Rev. D. George Spagnolia, who was removed from ministry pending an investigation into past abuse allegations, began wearing purple ribbons to show their solidarity. “People here are all for Father,” one woman tearfully told the Boston Herald. “Father married my daughter. He baptized my grandson. He’s done nothing but good for the people around here.”

Why, just the other day he came here to help little Timmy with his homework. After that, he went to little Bobby’s house and taught him about being a doctor. The man is a saint. He’s done nothing but good around here…

Hm, okay, so….let’s see….

Tuesday: Left around 12:45 to drive up to the Poconos for a show. Got there around 3:00. Load-in was scheduled for 5:00. I found a nice spot, sat down with my book, relaxed. The sun was out, and despite being a bit cold, it was nice. At around 4:55 the clouds rolled in. At around 4:57 it began to HAIL. At around 5:10 (after all my equipment was inside), the sun came back out. Returned home at around 1:00 am.

Wednesday: Got up early, unloaded the van, changed some gear, re-loaded the van, and then I was off to The Peddie School for a concert they were having. Overall, that was very nice. Despite being a bit cold, it was a beautiful day. The concert was outdoors. The people were fun. They fed me lots of good food. AND I got paid for it.

Thursday (why, that’s today!): Got up early. Made some phone calls. At 10:00, I called AAA to come take Ali’s car away, since it has one tire with a screw in it, and a flat spare tire. At 11:40, I called again, wondering where the driver was. At around 11:50, he finally showed up. We went over to NTB, where the guys were dumber than dirt. We finally figured out that her car takes an odd sized tire, which they don’t have in stock, and which apparently has to be ordered from Michelin. They’re coming from California, and should be here in about a week. Until then, no car for Ali.

That’s about it. I finally got paid for a bunch of jobs. That’s good. I should, hopefully, be hearing from Princeton Day School next week.

That is all.

The Resurrection of “Quippy Buffy”

As a matter of fact, she hints that the powers that be may already have started to set the stage for a changing of the guard. “I think next year is really going to focus on Buffy teaching Dawn,” she suggests. “Of course, this is totally speculation, because I really have no idea.

“I could tell you it’s about Buffy joining the Peace Corps, and it could be just as accurate,” she adds wryly. “Designer Peace Corps.”

Hallelujah! Quippy Buffy is back!

Dear god, let’s hope so…

If this is true, then it will mean great things. I knew this price war between Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would lead to good things. I knew that eventually, the price of the games would have to drop, as well. Because, honestly, I could care less about a drop in the system price. I already have the system. I need a drop in the price of the software. And it looks like that may happen soon.

This is promising. I got an e-mail from the drama director at Princeton Day School (the place where I’m trying to get a job). He said they’re doing their final interview on Wednesday, and they should have a decision by the end of next week.

He said in his e-mail that the dean of the high school, who I interviewed with, keeps saying that I’ve “set the bar very high.” That’s a good sign.

Keep your fingers crossed for me…

Inspired by Bryan, I took a trip over to my local game store. It’s been quite some time since I was involved in any of that stuff, and while I’d like to start again, I’m somewhat nervous about the idea.

See, some of the people who play these games are somewhat…well…fanatical about them. I don’t want to devote my entire life to playing a game. I want to play casually, when I have the time to play. With some of these people, if you can’t devote the kind of time they want you to devote, you can’t play with them.

Others of them are just plain weird.
